Greetings from the representative

―I want to protect the lacquerware that has been inherited by Japanese since ancient times and pass it on to future generations―

I grew up in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, in a family lineage of Wajima lacquer craftsmen that has continued for about 170 years. Ever since he was a child, he dreamed of becoming a Wajima lacquer painter, but gave up his dream because he lacked confidence.
After that, while working for a company, every time I witnessed the current situation surrounding Wajima lacquerware, which was becoming more severe year by year, I thought, "I want to convey the charm of lacquerware to as many people as possible and deliver the Japanese spirit. I want to protect Wajima-nuri and my hometown.”
In 2012, he started making works with the cooperation of a friend who is a Wajima lacquerware craftsman. Since 2015, solo exhibitions have been held in Wajima City, Fukushima Prefecture, and Kanagawa Prefecture.
And the year 2022 has arrived.
We have established Chubei Japan Co., Ltd.
While proposing a lifestyle where lacquerware is more familiar, we will convey the goodness of genuine lacquerware to many people, and deliver the charm and works of lacquerware not only to people in Japan but also to people around the world. Our goal is to contribute to the maintenance and succession of traditional crafts, and to maintain and pass on traditional crafts with our own hands.
We cherish the pride and gratitude of being born into a family involved in Wajima lacquerware, and deliver works that will continue to be loved by customers for 100 years. Chubei Hosoya
